Abstract
Presently, the natural resources of mussel and oyster seed in Yugoslavia are sufficient to meet the national demand and export needs. Investigations of larval settlement on commercial collectors are carried out in several bays suitable for mariculture. Until now the results indicate that mussels and oysters have a long settlement season with differences in intensity according to time and space. The most favorable spatfall level is conspicuous for each species but spat mixture occurs. An excellent growth rate of spat on collectors was shown at a depth of about 3m. In general, several useful suggestions could be uttered for a better harvesting of oyster and mussel seed in the Adriatic Sea.
