Abstract
Protective coastal structures often consists of vertical walls. Recently, vertical walls are provided with an overhanging (towards the sea) or even horizontal upper part. Breaking waves are causing here violent wave impacts. A dynamic approach of the effect on the structure is required. The aim of this project is to study the wave loading due to wave impacts on the horizontal parts on the one hand and the structural respons on the other hand.
