Abstract
The objective of this project is to present a complete, reliable phylogenetic frame of the catfishes, by means of an integrated molecular-morphological study. When the evolutionary relationships on a higher taxonomic level in this diverse and wide spread clade are known, they undoubtedly form a solid base from which insight in the origin, evolutionary life history and the morphological and ecological evolution of the Siluriformes can be gained.
