Abstract
The basic objective of this project is to study the geochemical cycles of heavy metals and organic micropollutants in particulate materials in the North Sea environment. Trace element analysis and micro-analysis techniques are employed.

For the atmosphere, the deposition flow of particles from the air and the metals they contain is estimated, and the aerosol particle types which appear in the air above the North Sea are studied. The examination also includes a study of particles in rain water.

The individual suspension particles in the water and in the water/air boundary layer are exhaustively characterised.
