Description:
    The central focus of this workshop will be the future role of European Marine Science stations and research institutes in supporting marine biological research. The workshop will be a series of round table discussions facilitated by session leaders.

    Session topics:

    1. The role of marine stations in promoting human capacity building and supporting the training of student and early career research scientists (Prof. David Paterson)
    2. The role of marine stations in research


      • As observatories and repositories of long term data sets
      • As focal points for ecological and novel experimental marine science (Dr Jens Nejstgaard)

    3. Taking forward marine stations for the 21st century (Prof. Mike Thorndyke)


    • Building networks of infrastructure and expertise
    • Maximising our engagement responsibility with the wider community
