Abstract
During an investigation on the fouling of artificial substrata in a brackish-water biotope at Oostende (=Ostend), Belgium, it was found that some harpacticoid species, until now considered benthic, become pelagic at certain times. Also, we observed that these harpacticoids were swimming during certain periods and then were found in the plankton. Some observations about this phenomenon are discussed in this paper.
