Description
In 1947 the Fisheries Research Board of Canada (FRB) initiated the Eastern Arctic Investigations. These were seasonal marine biological investigations led by Prof. M.J. Dunbar from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec. The name "Calanus" comes from the name of the 50-foot wooden diesel ketch used during the program. The "Calanus" Series consists of collected reprints of publications resulting directly from the vessel's program in the eastern Canadian arctic. more

The "Calanus" Series consists of collected reprints of publications resulting directly from the vessel's program in the eastern Canadian arctic. The 24 papers of the series represent the FRB arctic investigations between 1947 and 1959. Sampling methods were varied and included: hydrographic; sounding; plankton hauling; littoral collecting; benthos (dredging); benthos (trawling); seine fishing; hand-line fishing; long-line fishing; gill-net fishing; shark; sealing. Data from series numbers 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16, 18, 23 and 24 have been included with results showing species location and presence only.
