VLIZ members: Thank you!

Each year VLIZ members get the opportunity to learn more about the operation and staff of VLIZ. The members' day 2016 took place under a sunny sky and started with a coffee and a snack in the premises of the Marine Station Oostende (MSO). Afterwards the members - along with VLIZ personnel - went on a guided tour on the Eastern Bank of Ostend port.  Information was provided by professional guides.

In groups, the 95 participants were guided to the beach where a team of six SeaWatch-B volunteers gave a full explanation of what can be measured on the beach and in the coastal zone. They managed to inform members with enthusiasm about lesser weever, comb jellies, place, the difference between male and female crabs, plastic on the beach and archaeological findings.

The walk ended with a reception at the MSO, where members and staff fraternized with each other. Being held under a bright sun and blue sky, it was a very successful first edition. See the pictures of the VLIZ members' day here.
