When?
PiE 2025 will take place on Wednesday to Friday 17-19th September 2025, with an icebreaker on Tuesday evening 16th September 2025.
Who?
PiE 2025 is co-organized by Sequoia Scientific, Inc., Flanders Marine Institute, Flanders Hydralics and Institute of Natural Sciences.
Where?
PiE 2025 will be held in the InnovOcean Campus (main office building of VLIZ) in Ostend, Belgium.
Who Should Attend PiE?
PiE brings together some of the world’s experts in measuring and monitoring particles in water. The presentations are not limited to specific technology or field of study. Anybody interested in measuring, monitoring, modeling or managing particles in oceans, rivers, lakes, storm water, streams and ice may attend: Researchers, students, environmental officials, government employees, and monitoring agencies should attend the meeting. Broadly, examples of topics of interest are:
- Marine and hydrological sediment transport
- Biological studies
- Maintenance and Contaminated-Sediment Dredging
- River and Reservoir sedimentation
- Particle Measurement technologies
- Optics/Acoustics of Particles and Flocs
- Marine Optics & Remote Sensing
Abstract submission
Are you interested to present your own research at PiE 2025? Abstract submission deadline is 6 June 2025. On 27 June 2025 at the latest, you will be noticed about the acceptance of your abstract for an oral presentation (short or standard) or a poster.

Registration
Please note that abstract acceptance does not come with automatic registration. You need to register separately. The registration form will be available on this website from 2 June 2025 until 5 September 2025.
