Description
The MISELA (Minute Sea-Level Analysis) dataset contains 1-minute quality-checked sea-level records from 331 tide gauges worldwide. The dataset is appropriate for global, regional or local research of atmospherically-induced high-frequency sea-level oscillations. more
The MISELA (Minute Sea-Level Analysis) dataset encompasses 1-minute quality-checked sea-level records of nonseismic sea-level oscillations at tsunami timescales (T<2h) obtained from 331 tide-gauge sites. The records on which the dataset is built are obtained from: (1) Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission Sea Level Station Monitoring Facility, (2) Finnish Meteorological Institute and (3) Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, and are at least 2-years-long with less than 30% data gaps. As the original data is raw and contains numerous quality problems (e.g. spikes, shifts, drifts), the dataset has undergone through rigorous quality-control, including both automatic and manual procedures. Since the dataset is intended for research on atmospherically-induced high-frequency sea-level oscillations, the records observed during seismic tsunamis have been removed. Finally, the data have been filtered with high-pass filter (cut-off period of 2 h). The applications of the MISELA dataset are designed for researching phenomena at the tsunami timescales in coastal sea-levels such as seiches, meteotsunamis, infragravity and coastal waves.
