Description
The Marine Turtle Protection programme from Los Cabos local government, with the support of WWF-Telcel and CONANP, launched a project in 2009 to satellite-track the movements of the olive ridley turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) hatching in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
Due to the little information available about the migratory patterns of this species in Los Cabos, data obtained with the satellite tracking will help determining future decisions with regards to conservation and management. Since then, 8 olive ridley turtles have been tracked.
In November 2012 Los Cabos local government, in coordination with Hotel Esperanza, continued with the project and tagged and released an adult female olive ridley ("Esperanza") in Hotel Esperanza beach. more

Supplemental information: Visit STAT's project page for additional information. This dataset is a summarized representation of the telemetry locations aggregated per species per 1-degree cell.
