Abstract |
This study reports on the two poorly known tintinnid ciliates, Wangiella dicollaria Nie, Citation1934 and Stenosemella parvicollis (Marshall, Citation1934) Hada, Citation1935 from the neritic waters of the Eastern Arabian Sea. Their taxonomic status and morphological features of the lorica are discussed with the aid of scanning electron microscopy. This study envisages that the lorica of Stenosemella parvicollis might be another species of the genus Wangiella Nie, Citation1934. However, further studies are required for a better understanding of their systematics and classification by integrating morphological, cytological and molecular approaches. |
