Abstract
The list of species of oysters in Vietnam is reported to be around thirty-one species but lack of specimens, illustrations, storage place, and source of collected data. Some reports confuse names or use synonyms in taxonomy. In this study, we collected samples of grow-out cultured species, recorded the distribution, readjusted and updated the taxonomy according to the World Register of Marine Species system. The research results show that there are five species of grow-out cultured oysters: Magallana ariakensis (Fujita, 1913); Magallana belcheri (Sowerby, 1871); Magallana bilineata (Röding, 1798); Magallana gigas (Thunberg, 1793); Magallana hongkongensis (Lam & Morton, 2003).
