Description
The goal of this work was to assess and describe the presence of macro- and mesolitter in the marina of Nieuwpoort, Belgium, on a slipway, as part of a pilot study for the TREASURE project (Interreg North Sea). The dataset includes a description of the methodology for sampling and sample processing, geographic area, items and particles categorization according to the Join-list, size range, mass, color, polymer and method of sample processing, as well as assessed environmental parameters. moreThe present dataset contains results on particles dimensions, colors, mass, categories according to the J-list, polymer type with the corresponding matching score and sampling parameters. The samples were cleaned, left to dry and measured in length and width thanks to a digital caliper (W-Kronen®). Mass was measured with a precise balance (VWR® Premium Analytical Balances). To identify the polymer, an Attenuated Total Reflectance (ATR)-FTIR (Perkin Elmer) was used. The polymer match was accepted when the score was above 70.
