Abstract
This COST Action aimed at establishing a broad baseline of knowledge on (a) the scales of natural variability in climatic and
hydrographic events, over as long a period as possible; and (b) the specific causes of biological change, in order to permit the prediction of the consequences of natural or human-induced change in coastal benthic communities. Participants have agreed upon a common methodological and organizational approach to the sampling of four coastal habitat types (rocky and sedimentary intertidal and subtidal) on a continuing basis
