The Research Library holds one of the finest natural history collections in Australia. Dating from 1836, the Research Library has developed comprehensive and specialised collections in the areas of vertebrate and invertebrate zoology and taxonomy, anthropology, earth and environmental sciences, materials science and museology. Over 12,000 journal titles, dating from the 1800's, are held in the Library. Over 1500 journal titles are currently received by purchase, donation or exchange with other institutions. Many titles are not held in other Australian libraries. The unique journal collection is supplemented by a collection of over 70,000 monographs, including an extensive collection of expedition reports and rare items of Australiana. |
