Abstract
    (1) Extracts from hard shells and epidermis taken from M. puber male crabs have been analyzed by electrophoretic and immunological means. (2) The hard shell extract components, even when their electrophoretic mobility is close to that of some seric proteins, have no antigenic determinants in common. (3) The epidermis contains, at a definite period of the intermoult cycle, a protein component of which the electrophoretic mobility and the antigenicity are identical with those of a seric protein. (4) The nature of this protein, which corresponds to the II-I precipitin are of a whole serum immunoelectrophoretic pattern, is discussed.
