Abstract
A long time before people appeared in the dunes, already some processes of formation took place, which made the dunes what they are now. In the history of the making, however, man played an important role as well. The earliest traces of settlement on the old shore walls date back from 4100 years ago and were discovered in Loosduinen, Voorburg, Veur and Voorschoten. Here jar cullet, tools and bones were found, which provided us with an impression of the occupations of the people that lived in the dune landscape at that time.
