Abstract
This is a study of the corals found around Cebu Island. Four different places were chosen to represent the coral formations found in the area namely: Sabang, Danao City; Silut Bay, Liloan; Tuyan, Naga; and Tuyom, Carcar. Two classes, two subclasses, four orders, three suborders, seven families, two subfamilies, 21 genera, one subgenus, 47 species, and two varieties are described here. Of these, one species and two varieties are believed to be new to science. One
species is reported for the first time in the Philippines. This paper is the first of a series. Subsequent papers will be on the other groups of Scleractinians.
