Abstract

Although Trisopterus minutus capelanus is not a valuable resource in the northern Tyrrhenian Sea, it is an important ≪by‐catch≫ for otter trawlers in abundance, biomass and frequency of occurrence. Most likely, this species plays a major role in the demersal system economy. As a contribution to a greater knowledge and understanding of the biology and ecology of this fish, the results of three years trawl surveys are presented.
