Abstract
In a first part of the revision of the Columbellidae from Masirah Island (Eastern Oman), eight species are revised and three species are described as new. Pleurotoma trifilosa E.A. Smith, 1882 is assigned to a new genus Smithena gen. nov. of which it is the type-species. Atilia fauroti Jousseaume, 1888 and Costoanachis rassierensis Smythe, 1985 are revised in the genus Anachis H. Adams & A. Adams, 1853, and assigned to the same group of affinity than the two new species A. kathleenae sp. nov. and A. splendens sp. nov. Anachis raysutana Smythe, 1985 and Anachis donnae Moolenbeek & Dance, 1994 are revised. Columbella exilis Philippi, 1849, C. phaula Melvill & Standen, 1901 and C. selasphora Melvill & Standen, 1901 are revised in the genus Zafra A. Adams, 1860. A new species P. masirana sp. nov. is described in the genus Parvanachis Radwin, 1968. The phenetic variability and the distribution of the species are discussed, as well as the most evident phyletic proximities, on the ground of the data at hand.
