Abstract
Thirty-six species of brachyurans, representing 11 families and 26 genera, are now reported from the coastal waters of Lebanon. Fourteen of these have been previously reported, while 22 are here reported for the first time. Twenty-six species are indigenous to the Mediterranean, eight are of Indo-West Pacific origin, one is Atlantic, and another is a freshwater species. The need for further collections is indicated since, based on the available ranges of distribution in the eastern Mediterranean basin, several other species are expected to occur in Lebanese waters.
