Abstract
The present report extends the distributional range of rare venerid clam, Pelecyora katiawarensis (Fischer-Piette & Métivier, 1971) to Dhamara estuary, Odisha as well as east coast of India, and the literature suggests that it is third report in the world. This species is only reported from Cochin port, Kerala and its holotype locality, Katiawar (Gujarat) and no evidence of availability elsewhere. The identification carried out by the examination of morphological characters.
