Abstract
The mussel condition index represents the proportion of the amount of meat within the shell and it's one of the indicators of the market quality of mussel. In this study, the condition index of Mediterranean mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis within two breeding sites (Lim Channel and Mali Ston Bay) in the period from July 2020 to May 2021 was determined and compared. Physico-chemical parameters were measured and determined at both investigated locations and their relationship with the measured condition index was determined. All measured parameters showed seasonal variations. The highest condition indexes of the Mediterranean mussel M. galloprovincialis were measured in July (20.83) and November (18.14) in the Lim Channel, and in the Mali Ston Bay in September (17.06) and March (19.07). From the above, it could be assumed that these are mussels whose condition index varies according to the season of the sexual cycle and that mussels in the Lim Channel have a slightly better condition index than those in Mali Ston Bay
