Abstract
The new species Pionoconus mascarenensis n. sp. is described from material from Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle de St. Denis/La Reunion, from Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris and from several private collections. This species has been collected alive from 0.3 to 63m deep in the lagoon and in the extern slope of the reef in the Northand South East of Madagascar, Reunion Island, Seychelles, Mauritius, Rodrigues, Cargados Carajos (St Brandon), Agalega, Saya de Maiha and Chagos Islands. The new species is compared to Pionoconus leehmani (Röckel & da Motta, 1979), P. gubernator (Hwass in Bruguière, 1792), P. gubernator f. veillardi da Motta 1990 and P. aliwalensis S.G. Veldsman, 2018.
