Abstract
As president of Eureau, ir. Martijn, emphasises the role of EUREAU in the European Commissions. The European Commission (DG XI) is dealing for more than 20 years with the legislation and edition of directives on water management. There is an actual trend of creating regulations continuously. Too much interference of the Commission might lead to over-regulation. The directives by the European Commission however could be a good and efficient tool for the member states to a better management in the matters of national health and aquatic environment. Finally the organisation of the Watersector in the European member states is analysed.
