Abstract
The Bartonian (Middle Eocene) species of Paris Basin (France) Purpura ringens Deshayes, 1865 is interpreted again and a new figuration is given based on recently collected material. The species is attributed to a new genus Trahaldia, family Columbellidae Swainson, 1840 (Gastropoda, Neogastropoda). The identification of morphological features enables separation of this new genus within Columbellidae. The residual colour pattern preserved is revealed under UV lighting for the first time.
