Abstract
Granulina atlantidea sp. nov. is described from the infralittoral of the island of Hierro, Western Canary. The very pronounced cylindrical morphology of its shell make it linked to the species group of Granulina cylindrata Boyer & Rolan, 2004, from Dakar, Senegal. The species group Granulina with a cylindrical shape turns out to be a remarkably diverse group at a specific level and rather highly disparate morphologically. The distribution of this group appears to be confined to the north-east Atlantic.
