Abstract
Eleven species are indentified among the Ancilla fauna in the upper recital area from Masirah Island, Oman. Seven species already established are revised: A. castanea (Sowerby, 1830), A. boschi Kilburn, 1980, A. djiboutina (Jousseaume, 1894), A.sticta Kilburn, 1981, A. ovalis (Sowerby, 1859), A. inornata (E.A. Smith, 1879) and A. exigua (Sowerby, 1830). Four new species are described : A. guttata sp. nov., A. pruinosa sp. nov., A. sultana sp. nov. and A. undulata sp. nov. The variability of the shell and the range of the species are analyzed, and a comparison with the close species made. The colour and chromatism of all the animals is documented but for A. undulata sp. nov.
