| Abstract |
In 1965, under the direction of WERNERT, sixty-five ten-liter samples gathered from the best Achenheim cuts furnished an abundant variety of shell fossils. A study of both the fossils and the sediments has permitted us to follow. with some precision and with but few gaps the changes in climate occurring in Alsace from the Mindel to the end of the Würm and to establish some curves of the relative temperatures during the different periods. The most detailed information was obtained for the Würm period, but the older specimens also furnished excellent information. Achenheim, thus, constitutes one of the best sources as yet known to exist in France for such information regarding the Pleistocene. |
