Abstract
The fossil gastropod described by Issel (1869) as Neritopsis semiplicata is in reality a species of Vanikoro. The combination Vanikoro semiplicata (Issel, 1869) is however a junior homonym of Vanikoro semiplicata Pease, 1861. The latter is considered a junior synonym of Vanikoro acuta (Recluz, 1844). The specific identity of Vanikoro semiplicata (Issel, 1869) has not yet been solved.
