Abstract
The oldest name for the Neritopsis species living in the Red Sea might be Neritopsis semisulcata (Brocchi, 1821 ). Unfortunately the whereabouts of his type material is not known. In addition it can be considered a nomen oblitum. The name Neritopsis aqabaensis Bandel, 2007 is therefore accepted for this Erythraean species in spite of the fact that it was based on an extremely tiny juvenile specimen.
