Abstract
In 2008 the Manila clam Ruditapes philippinarum (Adam & Reeve, 1850) was introduced with seed of mussels or oysters in the semi-closed, brackish Oosterschelde estuary (province of Zeeland, the Netherlands). Encounters in 2011 and 2012 of doublets and single valves on De Kaloot, a beach of the Westerschelde near Borssele suggest the recent settlement of this species in that estuary which is open to the North Sea.
