In the framework of a survey of the marine Cyanophyceae of Papua New Guinea, material was collected along the coast of Madang Province and in the Central Province. Arthrospira and Spirulina are the first genera that are treated. Four taxa were recorded; two of these, A. miniata var. constricta and S. regis are new to science.
