Abstract
Most of the marine gastropods in the superfamily Pyramidelloidea (Heterobranchs) are predators or external parasites for a wide variety of other marine benthic animal species. The discovery of a specimen of Mimachlamys varia (Pectinidae) bearing two Clathrella clathrata (Amathinidae) in Sicilian waters is here reported. Such association is a reminder that a trophic relation exists between some pyramidellacean gastropods and some marine bivalves. Three of them are illustrated here: Clathrella clathrata on Mimachlamys varia, Amathina tricarinata on Spondylus spinosus and Odostomia eulimoides on Mimachlamys varia.
