Abstract
The occurence of Hydromedusae in the Ems-Estuary was investigated by plankton samples in May and October 1951. For comparison were made also in the Elbe-Estuary some plankton samples. In the samples were found; Ectopleura dumortieri (Van Beneden), Margelopsis haeckeli Hartlaub, Rathkea octopunctata (M. Sars), Phialidium hemispaericum (L), Eucheilota maculata Hartlaub, Obelia sp. and the pelagic polyp Clytia pelagica (Van Breemen). Sarsia tubulosa (M. Sars) and Nemopsis bachei Agassiz did not occur in the plankton samples of the Ems, but some specimen were in the Elbe samples. It is assumed that the previously mentioned Medusae are endemic in the Ems-Estuary, because juvenile stages and reproduction could be observed.
