Abstract
In 1975 an investigation on the distribution of several groups of aquatic insects was started and showed an unexpected number of records of S. selecta . These data are summarized in connection with some ecological parameters. S. selecta is nearly always found together with S. stagnalis . The ecological niches of both species appear to be almost equal. S. selecta seems more tolerant for higher chlorinities than S. stagnalis. Recent records from the Delat area show different places for S. selecta and S. stagnalis in the meso- and polyhaline communities
