Abstract
Ovigerous female P.alatus were collected in the Bay of Naples and larvae reared in the laboratory from hatching to the 1st crab stage, at a temp of 18 °C and a salinity of 35ppt. The 4 zoeal stages and glaucothoe are described and illustrated. The mean duration of each stage was 7.6, 5.6, 6.5, 9.3 and 11.6 days respectively. The larval stages are compared with those of P.marshi, P.exilis, and P.kulkarnii.
