You better be prepared in case an oil spill occurs in front of your coast! Especially when many marine birds and mammals are the victim of the floating black gunk. Remember the Tricolor or the Prestige?
Between 1 and 3 October 2007 the European experts in the treatment of oiled birds and mammals meet at the 4th Sea Alarm Conference in Thermae palace in Oostende (Belgium). They will exchange ideas and experiences. Presentations of skilled spreakers and poster presentations will give a ‘state-of-the-art’ within four themes: How are we prepared to an oil spill? How do we react best? How do we monotor for oil spills? How do we assess the situation after a spill occured? Extra attention will be given to the following issues: planning and stakeholder involvement, international coorperation, communication and media, techniques and scientific aspects of the treatments, rehabilitation and post release survival, design and use of mobile units and equipment, capacity building and financial aspects of a wildlife response.
