Abstract
Serum levels of the precursors to vitelline envelope proteins (choriogenin H and L; Chg H and Chg L) and vitellogenin (Vg) were measured in masu salmon during natural maturation and after injection of the fish with estradiol-17 beta (E2). Comparison of Vg, E2 and Chgs levels revealed higher concentrations of Chgs than Vg coinciding with low E2 levels. These results indicate coordinated regulation of Chg H, L and Vg concentrations in serum by circulating E2 levels.
