Abstract
In this study we show that vitelline envelope protein (VEP) mRNA and oestrogen receptor (ER) mRNA exhibit earlier induction than vitellogenin (VTG) mRNA following injection of juvenile Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus) with a single dose of 17 beta -estradiol (E2). These results indicate that VEPs have a higher sensitivity for E2 than VTG. We also show indications of an early and sex-independent expression of VEP- beta in oestrogen unchallenged juvenile Arctic char.
