Abstract
The production of 17 alpha ,20 beta -dihydroxy-pregnen-3-one (17 alpha ,20 beta -DHP) of Oocytes at migratory nucleus stage response to carp pituitary extract (CPE), and/or human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), eel pituitary extract (EPE) in vitro and in vivo were studied: the role of 17 alpha ,20 beta -DHP in inducing oocyte germinal vesicle breakdown (GVBD) was also investigated. Results indicated that the 17 alpha ,20 beta -DHP which synthesis and release under the regulation of GtH, play key role during oocyte final maturation and ovulation in artificially matured Japanese eel.
