Abstract
Interferometry has been used successfully by the radar community for a number of years; however its application to sonar has developed more slowly due to a number of factors such as complex platform motion and different sources of noise. Interferometric sonar can be used to obtain an estimate of the height of a target on the sea bottom, or the depth estimation of the sea floor. This paper introduces a study for applying single-pass interferometry to hull mounted sonar (HMS) data for target height estimation.
