Abstract
In the frame of the activities of the 23rd ITTC Manoeuvring Committee, a review is given of semi-empirical methods for formulating the water depth dependence of the main ship manoeuvring coefficients. The ability of these methods for taking account of the water depth in shallow and very shallow water conditions is evaluated by means of results of captive manoeuvring tests carried out with the model of a container carrier in the range h/T = 1.10 - 1.32.
