Abstract
An existing theoretical model that predicts the sediment trapefficiency of small ponds (STEP) will be further validatedthrough a number of experimental data that will be gathered using a scale model of a pond. The STEP-model is currently a two-dimensional model but three-dimensional velocity measurementsof the flow in the
scale pond during the experiments will be usedto extend the STEP-model to 3D-conditions such that it will be able to predict the effects of turbulence and circular flow paths on the sediment deposition process in small ponds.
