Pike (Esox lucius) (n=612) were tagged with PIT-tags in Matsalu Bay, Baltic Sea (Estonia) to track their spawning migration to Teorehe-Saumeri floodplain using stationary antennae deployed at critical locations in the floodplain. The tagged fish were tracked for three spawning seasons to identify: 1) their migration patterns; 2) which regions (Teorehe or Sauemeri) of the floodplain are used and to what extent. The ultimate goal was to provide advice to the management for potential restoration projects in the floodplain as the spawning area is currently a ecological trap for most young-of-the-year pike.
