Hydronet is the former "AMINAL limnimetric or hydrologic monitoring network non-navigable waterways". The division "Water" of AMINAL is now part of the Flanders Environoment Agency (VMM). AMINAL limnimetric or hydrologic monitoring network non-navigable waterways General The dataset resulting from the AMINAL limnimetric net contains measurements of water levels and watercourse flow rates of non-navigable waterways in Flanders.These measurements take place in specific areas in order to gain an insight into the drainage properties of watercourses. The limnimetric net of AMINAL's Water department covers around 80 well-equipped measuring stations on non-navigable watercourses. The Department of Hydrological Research (DIHO) of the Waterways and Maritime Office (AWZ) develops the measuring stations. This service has been integrating the supervision and development of the AMINAL measurement network since 1997 in its own measurement network of 140 measuring stations, mainly on navigable watercourses. Information dating from 1997 of the AMINAL Measurement network and data on the stations of the DIHO (Service for Hydrological Research) measurement network have not been included in this website. History of the limnimetric measurement network Measuring water levels and flow rates has strongly evolved over the past 50 years. At first they were measured sporadically. The water level for example, was recorded manually daily. From 1967 the water levels have been registered on paper. These days, many stations are equipped with a data logger and modem, so the data can also be consulted via a remote computer. The amount of measurement stations has grown recently. Malfunctioning stations were dismantled or moved. However, various stations have been operational for over 20 years. Hydronet The Hydronet application gives entrance to all recent and historical monitoring results registered by the different surface water monitoring networks for the operational water management by the Division Water of the VMM (Flanders Environment Agency). The monitoring network collects continuous data on the amount of precipitation, drainage (flow rate and water level), meteorology (wind velocity, temperature, ...), evaporation,... All monitoring results can be downloaded for further use.
