The ScheldeMonitor is a knowledge and information portal of the research and monitoring performed in the Flemish-Dutch Scheldt Estuary. The portal provides an overview of the research landscape and an extensive collection of literature. In addition to information also measurements and data products are made available by various data sources.
The past few years the teams of ScheldeMonitor have invested - in cooperation with the VLIZ-library - in the public disclosure of older articles and reports regarding the Scheldt Estuary. This is done by searching for digital versions of documents or scanning archives. This made the number of Open Access documents rise from 4016 in 2012 to 6029 in June 2015.
The oldest publication in this collection dates back from 1781 and deals with observations of fish in the sea, coastal areas and rivers: Verhoeven, W.G.F. (1781) and is free to download as are the other 6000 documents.
