Student job vacancies at VLIZ for summer 2021



The following student jobs are still vacant:
  • Job student IT web developer: You are responsible for testing and developing a CRUD (create, read, update, delete) web application, in order to annotate taxonomic names from OBIS (www.obis.org) and WoRMS (www.marinespecies.org). You are working on an API to make the application available to machines.
  • Job student IT at the UNESCO/IOC Project Office for IODE: You support the further development of OceanExpert (www.oceanexpert.org), a guide for marine and freshwater professionals (database, interface, API, etc ..) and help make these applications more functional and user-friendly.
  • Job student journalistic videography: You record and edit videos. You set up storylines and scenarios for the films and you interview those involved. Good knowledge of video recording and assembly is recommended.
  • Job student archiving and reusing diving footage: You scan and analyze diving footage for underwater fauna and heritage. Basic knowledge of video editing and / or data management and archiving is an advantage, but not a must.
  • Job student policy information: you are responsible for the translation (Dutch - English) of the Compendium for Coast and Sea and the website of non-indigenous species in the Belgian part of the North Sea and the Scheldt estuary. A good knowledge of the English language is recommended.
