The "Marine Regions" system combines the data and information of the VLIMAR gazetteer (register of names for marine geographic features or entities) with MARBOUND (polygones of bordered sea areas). The two global data systems were formerly developed by the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ). Both systems have proven their value in recent years for a variety of users. By bringing together both databases we hope to serve various target groups even better.
